Horizon League Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week
Edmund Blankson
Loyola, So., Glen Carbon,
Blankson captured three event titles to lead Loyola at the Notre Dame Opener last weekend. He won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.83 and later claimed the 200m title with a time of 21.87. He was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that captured first-place honors with a time of 43.50. All three times now rank among the school's all-time top marks.

Tenia Fisher
UW-Milwaukee, Sr.,
Fisher broke the 19-year old school mark in the 800m, while qualifying for the NCAA Regional at the Stanford Invitational. Fisher finished seventh in the 800m, running a time of 2:08.97 to eclipse the previous standard of 2:10.01 dating back to 1987. This was her first meet of the outdoor season.
Other Top Performances
Scott Overall
In his first outdoor race of the season, Overall placed 10th in the 5000m at the elite Stanford Invitational in a field that included professional athletes. His time of 14:00 was well below the regional qualifying time of 14:10.
Adam Mayhew
Mayhew made his debut in outdoor throwing events, competing in all four disciplines. He finished second in the shot put (45 feet 9.25 inches), second in the discus (140 feet 8.5 inches, ninth best throw by a Titan all-time), fifth in the hammer throw (143 feet 7.5 inches) and third in the javelin (128 feet. 2.5 inches)
Josh Nygren
UW-Milwaukee, Sr.,
Nygren broke the school record in the 3,000m steeplechase while competing at the Stanford Invitational, just missing an NCAA Regional time by 0.44 seconds. Nygren finished fifth in his section with a time of 9:07.44, almost six seconds better than the previous mark set in 1990.
Nick Gazis
UIC, Sr.,
Gazis, who did not compete during the indoor campaign, made the most of his 2006 debut by breaking his own school record in the discus while posting a pair top five finishes at the meet. His heave of 51.35m in the discus broke his own school record of 49.99m and earned him a second place finish. The senior would also take third in the hammer throw (49.22m).
Elisha Milner
Milner finished eighth in the 400-meter dash at the Nikoloff Invitational in a time of 1:01.12.
Marcia Faustin
Loyola, Jr.,
Faustin captured her first high jump title of the outdoor season at Notre Dame last weekend with a winning jump of 5-3.25. She later gained a second-place finish as a member of the LU women's 4x100 relay team that finished with a time of 49.46, which ranks them third in school annals.
Jenny Pereira
For her first outdoor effort as a Bulldog,
Andrea Karl
Karl won the 800m race at the Notre Dame Spring Opener a time of 2:17.12.
Idara Essien
UIC, So.,
Essien broke her own school record in the triple jump on Saturday at the Mike Poehlein Invitational posting a distance of 11.47m to finish third in the event.
